Default Early 21 inch wheel vs later 21 inch wheel

How can you tell if 21 inch wheel is the early ( AR) type or the later type? Can someone give me the width of the inner centre for the two types ?

The bead outside of the lugnut holes is about 3/8 " on the later wheel .
on the early wheel it is about an inch.

Sorry I don't have an early wheel to measure

The AR used the same brake drums on the front and back
The AR front drum does not have a collar that goes right up to the bearing cone on the hub, instead it finishes about 2" from the center of the bearing cone

I hope this helps
Easy to spot the difference when you know what to look for

The hub depth on an early wheel is an inch, and later wheels are about an inch and a half.

Suggest you refer to the Service Bulletins; you do not want to put AR wheels on "B" drums or "B" wheels on AR drums.

I second this. I've seen bad things happen.

Hi John,
I posted three photos.
The first is an AR rim and the next two are the later type.
