Default Lowell Kimble from Nebraska kudos.

Lowell Kimble is a long time Early Ford V8 Club member and has advertised in Hemmings for as long as I can remember. I don't think I have ever bought anything from him in all these years untill I saw a part I was interested in recently. He doesn't appear to do email or sell anything on line so a phone call to him explained the part, the price and a guarantee that I would be satisfied or he would make it right. It may actually been my fault partially as I specified I wanted a 1937 Ford horn and assumed it would look like one I have original to my 37 made by Scwartze in Mich for Ford. He sent a shorter one made by Sparton for Ford and I suspect earlier 37 Fords. It would have been okay thus far but horn would not work as he guaranteed and I sent back. This is the first time I can remember in almost 50 years of this hobby that I was returned my initial money and shipping and all of return shipping and an apoligy.Try getting that from Drake or Carpenter.

Lowell goes to all the swap meets he can get to, and buys up the goodies before us slowpokes get done saying hello to each other. The guy has the eye of an eagle and can see treasure under a mile high pile of rust.

He's proud of his digs and will show you around his barns like they're part of the Smithsonian. Some of you know how rare the '38 driver side hood trim is? Carpenter and Alexander both had to restore broken trim for their '38s. Lowell has eight sets, left & right, all of them NOS. I think he really enjoys seeing the shock on a guy's face when he says they're not for sale!

I'm not surprised you got your money back including shipping. Lowell is a sharp trader, but he's an honest man and more of a hobbiest than many of us.

Black snakes won't hurt you, but they damn sure will make you hurt yourself. LOL

Can't help but wonder why someone would have 8 complete sets of 1938 NOS trim and not be willing to sell any of it. Must be the pride of owning something very rare knowing it's desirable. But, to each his own.

Super nice guy; have talked with him many times, may have sold him some parts, and bought some 38 parts from him

In the early 70's when I was doing my first deuce roadster I went to Norfolk to see if Lowell could help me with a few parts. I needed a firewall and a gas tank. My memory is a little foggy but I think he sent me to some little town close to Norfolk and told me pick out what I needed and stop back with my parts. The lot was full of 32 Fords of all kind in all stages of completeness. I found a nice tank and firewall, returned to his garage where he priced the parts fairly. I paid him and never told a single person about the collection of parts just sitting with no security. Those were different times.

I just spoke with Lowell, he's 82 now, and slowing down, still sounds healthy. I was mildly surprised that he still remembered me, it's been too many years since I've been there. Doesn't advertise on Hemmings anymore, but will still welcome visitors and furnish parts to those who need something. On another thread today, a guy wanted '38 stainless, but I was not willing to furnish Lowell's contact number before I spoke with him. He tells me to go ahead and post it on the internet, so here goes: Lowell Kimble, Norfolk, Nebraska, iPhone # 402-649-1116

I had a nice visit with Lowell and his brother in Auburn, IN recently at the Central National Meet. Very knowledgeable about these old Fords.
