Do you have the correct nut on the king pin locking bolt?

I was going to suggest the spindle pin locking nut also.

Having said that, remember that the Firestones are a bit fatter than most other tires. So your chances of having that happen are probably higher with the Firestones. I had Firestones on a Model A in the past and it too used to hit the brake rod on sharp turns.

Also - the nut on that pin goes to the rear. If you have the proper nut but the pin is inserted backwards then it's not going to be effective as a steering stop.

You sure about that?

KING PIN LOCKING BOLT/NUT
Part # A-3122/24 | Model Year 28-31
Special bolt, nut, and lock washer that locks the spindle bolt in place in the axle. Nut goes on back side of axle and provides the stopping point for the spindle when the wheels are turned. U.S.A.

Damn! I was test fitting my front end yesterday and specifically looked that up in the RG&JS, then posted without double checking. You’re right, of course. I’ve corrected my post. Thanks for catching that, and for being so gentle about correcting me.

The lock washer must also be included in the assembly. If missing, the tires can touch the rods.

I had the same problem with Firestone tires, so I just put a flat washer under the lock washer and solved the problem.

The locking pin is in backwards? I know you said you solved it, but ...... Might want to check it. Compare it to a buddy's car.
