Re: L. F. Wheel hitting brake rod
Do you have the correct nut on the king pin locking bolt?

Re: L. F. Wheel hitting brake rod
I was going to suggest the spindle pin locking nut also.
Having said that, remember that the Firestones are a bit fatter than most other tires. So your chances of having that happen are probably higher with the Firestones. I had Firestones on a Model A in the past and it too used to hit the brake rod on sharp turns. Also - the nut on that pin goes to the rear. If you have the proper nut but the pin is inserted backwards then it's not going to be effective as a steering stop.

Re: L. F. Wheel hitting brake rod
The lock washer must also be included in the assembly. If missing, the tires can touch the rods.

Re: L. F. Wheel hitting brake rod
I had the same problem with Firestone tires, so I just put a flat washer under the lock washer and solved the problem.

Re: L. F. Wheel hitting brake rod
The locking pin is in backwards? I know you said you solved it, but ...... Might want to check it. Compare it to a buddy's car.
