Annoying ads
What's with those damn ads that are popping up in the middle of my screen when I'm reading a thread? They pop up almost faster than I can click the "X" to get rid of it.
VERY ANNOYING It's gotten so that we can't even go to our favorite forums, not to mention the gas pump, without being inundated with commercials. Trying to watch the local news is a real experience in frustration. It's 15 minutes of news and 15 minutes of commercial. It's going to ruin this forum. |

Make sure you're logged in to the site. Members don't get the ads.

Re: Annoying ads
What annoys me is the two or three car haulers and truckers who advertise in all of the classifieds here and advertise almost every other day. They do this on other places too. They should have a separate area. The good haulers such as Reliable, Intercity and Passport don't advertise here-because they are great and they are insured.

Re: Annoying ads
The ad blocker on my computer will block ads on the Forum even when I am not logged in. At the gas stations, and at the supermarket, I just turn off my hearing aids. With my aids off I cannot hear anything, even the annoying elevator music at the supermarket. I have to remember to turn my aids back on when I get to the checkout stand.

Re: Annoying ads
The ads at the gas pump can be silenced by pushing one of the buttons (or touch things in the screen) that surround the screen. They’re not labeled so I just push each one in turn until the screeching harassment shuts off.

Re: Annoying ads
Stay away from "Total Adbloc". It works for some time then it gets involved in everything asking for more money and pops up everywhere. I need to get my computer guy to come and rid my background of their background thing.

Re: Annoying ads
Hate to break it to you but pretty much every major website you visit is doing this. google, ebay, amazon, youtube, harbor freight, etc. Your browser, cell phone company, and internet provider do the same. Have a smart phone with any apps? Yup. They're tracking you as well. It's clearly laid out on line 67 of page 497 of the user agreement that you agreed to when you signed up or logged in and accepted the cookies.

Re: Annoying ads
And if your modern vehicle has OnStar, GPS Navigation, pairs with your phone for music or phone calls/ texts, and plenty of cars that you haven’t paired your phone with… all are collecting data on you which is sold over and over to your insurance company, other insurance companies, credit rating agencies, Google, and data brokers which auction you off to any and everyone that pays a fraction of a cent.
