Anyone have some pictures of previous years?. That's a 12+ hour round trip PLUS the swap meet. Further then Turlock, but not as far a Sacramento.

I think Turlock (Jan) and Sacramento are the best swap meets for Nor Cal. They have Goodguys that cost $15 to park and around $25 to enter and the last two I went to were way down in swap meet sellers. I went to Alameda once during COVID and it was a good, old fashioned swap meet, basically a garage sale of old car parts, not expensive vendors. Guessing it was about 20%-25% the size of Turlock or Sac. Might be a bit small for a 12hr round trip unless you are going for the beer. I haven't tried it yet. I am an hour from Alameda and 2 hours from Turlock and Sac.

Size does not necessarily indicate a good swap meet. More important is the percentage of vendors selling Early V8 stuff. Alameda has by far a higher percentage than Sacto. (I assume you mean Woodland) or any of the Turlock meets other than January. I buy more at Alameda than at January Turlock.

Cool Kat, you are correct. When I went there I had just purchased a 1952 Crestline and it was the first time having a Ford flathead for me so I did not know what I needed or what to look for yet. It was just a nice, old fashioned swap meet. I also have a 1956 Chevy and a 1948 Dodge Power Wagon so I have the big 3 manufactures covered. Hardly ever find Dodge truck parts a swapmeets so it's a treat when you do. Bottom line, the days of real swapmeets seem to be dwindling. The Goodguys have lots of cars but the swapmeet sellers are down in my opinion and they are expensive to visit compare to the other meets. Since the Chevy and Dodge are done, I don't really need much. It's much more fun when you actually have something to dig in boxes to find. I also have been to the large Pomona and noticed folks selling 56 Chevy accessories at "high prices". Then to see the same guy selling a few years later exactly the same stuff in Woodland for the same high price. The Alameda meet looked to be regular guys selling extra, not need parts and not guys tring bto make a living off of car parts.

Is there a lot of 30's Ford stuff there? More specifically 1936.... I'll be in SF from the 4th till the 6th for work, I'm considering a visit. Dennis

I wouldn't say a lot of any one year, but yes, a fair number of vendors have Early Ford parts, and several wouldn't sell anything but Early Ford parts.
A few vendors show up on Friday night, most come in at 5 AM, stragglers keep coming till about 9 AM. Bring a flashlight: Early birds get the worm.

Ok, thanks. 5 o'clock wouldnt be an issue for me, given a 9 hour jet leg from Europe.[emoji16]

Unfortunately I leave at noon that day, so I'd have to be quick. And figure out how to get there and back from downtown SF. I'll see if I can make it, sure sounds like fun.

Thanks for the info.

Dennis

looks like a 30 min trip from Downtown SF to the Alameda Swap meet, especially on a weekend in the morning. Take you 1-2 hours to to leisurely walk the swap meet, then 1 hr to the SF airport. You can do it (unless you have a wife/significant other with you that is panicking about being late). I'll be in Amsterdam a few day before a river cruise. I really like seeing older cars, American or European, when I am in a foreign country, which is not that often. I got a big kick seeing some Old Chevrolets in New Zealand with right hand drive.

Ill definitely check out the Campbell Ford swap meet. Only 10 minutes from the kid's nail salon. I can look at old car stuff then soak my feet!

No significant other on this trip. [emoji16] However a plane to fly home later that day... So being back in time is kind of a thing.[emoji37]

I'll see if I can catch an early Lyft or Uber at around 5am or something.

If you have spare time in The Netherlands, the Louwman Museum in The Hague is very nice.
