Are you using Chrome or something else more up to date? I like to view the vintagefordforum.net and can't unless I am using Chrome.

Re: Cut off HAMB again????
That doesn't seem right. Website compatibility with old browsers can be an issue, but a new browser would be pretty unusual. What is the actual point that it fails? The site won't load at all on the new browser or you are not able to log in?

Re: Cut off HAMB again????
Hi all; Yea a browser settings change caused me to lose the old 'Newc' . Also the old account was using a e-mail long dropped. I am now D Newcomb until I get this sorted out. then the automatic update comes into the situation. Although my troubles are only on HAMB? I'll keep trying , thanks all. Newc

Re: Cut off HAMB again????
You could ask Ryan, something like this would require special attention. But we all remember the server change of 99 or the other one in 08. We still know who you are.

Re: Cut off HAMB again????
It sounds like your issue is you were storing your HAMB credentials in your old browser. When you upgraded to a new browser those stored credentials went away. You can't do a password reset since your email linked to your HAMB account is not longer valid.
Ryan or another HAMB admin should be able to get you sorted out and back into your old account. |

Re: Cut off HAMB again????
The HAMB, Ford Barn, and any other internet forum accounts are not tied to your personal computer. They are all stored on an independent server. Changing your computer, browser, updating Windows, etc would not cause your account at such a forum to be "cut off", "lost", "deleted", or the like. You've simply lost the log-in credentials that were previously cached by your browser.
Send a message through the "Contact Us" link to Ryan and he can get your accounts at both forums straightened out with your current email address.

All account details (username, password, email, posts, etc) are stored on the forum's web servers. Nothing in your browser would cause the server to "cut-off", "lose", or "delete" your forum account.

Re: Cut off HAMB again????
Mike is right. Is that like Ike is right? I don't know. I encourage people to purge your cookies sometimes. No it's not a bulimia joke. Just good practice. Yes you will have to re-enter usernames/passwords. I won't save passwords to my computer anyways (certianly banking). It will get rid of a lot of crap on your computer. Don't worry every site you visit will give you a new one.
Not to make anyone paranoid or weirded out. Just explaining. Cookies are used, as said, to catalog pages on your web browser. It is separate from the site host. It's not a big deal or something to freak out about. If you go to a site they put a cookie on your computer. Some put cookies that track your buying habits some don't. But like I said don't go into a conspiracy theory spiral. All sites do it, including this one. You can delete the cookie from this site and immediate login to this site. and you will get a new one. .
