Covered in MAFCA's Model A Ford Paint & Finish Guide.
I believe there is a revised 3rd edition published.

Thank you. Is this just the colours or the pinstriping placement on the car ?
Thanks wayne |

Re: Is there standards for Model A pinstriping ?
I am supposed to have the striping done this weekend and I want to make sure he follows the code. Can I get the right page on line or do I have to put the job off until I can buy the book ?
Thanks wayne |

Re: Is there standards for Model A pinstriping ?
From J Standards: "Pin striping was applied to all passenger vehicles to accent the lines of the car. Pin striping was applied by two workers, one for each side of the car as it traveled down the assembly line. Consequently, variations in line width or pattern sometimes existed on the same car. Special lacquer paint was used since the paint had to be dry within 10 minutes. Ford specified a particular pinstripe pattern for each body. The width of pin striping was specified as 1 /8" wide with a few exceptions. In actual practice, all pin striping was actually closer to 3/32' wide, regardless of the specified line width."

Charles,
Which revision of the J Standards did you quote or where did it say what you quoted? I could not find that in the 2011 revision. |
