New block interest.
OK, since things are getting closer to production, despite a very heavy work load, how many people here are really interested in getting a block? I know we initially had a poll that had over a hundred people expressing interest, and just what kind of block they wanted (iron/aluminum; 3 main/5 main) but let's see if we can get this project moving at a faster pace.
Should there be another poll? Tod |

Re: New block interest.
I would be interested in an iron 5 main block and crank, inserts, pressure oil.

Re: New block interest.
Interested in 5 main, iron with inserts, crank and Oiling. (As number 2 above) Bearing in mind I'm closing in on 83 and not in the best of health. Things can change rapidly, as in one fall or such.

Re: New block interest.
I'd be interested in a iron 5 main block with inserts and pressure oiling, depending on price.

Re: New block interest.
Cast iron block.
5 main bearing inserts with a heavy crank and a positive sealed rear main bearing. 5 bearing camshaft with replaceable cam bearings. 1.7" intake valves with hardened seats. Use bearings and seals that are readily available from most auto parts stores. |

Re: New block interest.
I forgot to add larger bearing surfaces. Model B size or Small Block Chevy.

Re: New block interest.
I would be interested in a block with pressure oiling, an oil filter, and a modern rear main seal. I'm not going to build a race motor so the rest of the stuff, ( 3 or 5 main bearings, larger journals, hard valve seats, etc. ) don't really matter to me

Re: New block interest.
For those of you asking for 5 main setups, here is a pic of a Donovan crank.
This is 65# of steel compared to about 47# of a "C" crank. As you can see, rods are different and in most cases so is the oil pump setup. Honestly, not necessary for the majority of applications. John

Re: New block interest.
Crazydaddyo
Looks like a familiar SCAT crank, dropped a few into girdles before. J

Re: New block interest.
Will the blocks be stamped with an engine number or is there a blank area where this can be done? Would there be an extra charge to do this to the customer's spec before the block gets shipped so that the car's "VIN" registration would still match?
Thanks Dave |

There is a stock-type pad for the number. The number can be stamped in by me or anyone else. Tod |

Great. I have one to do for crazydaddyo that is 5 main. I was wanting to do another out of aluminum asap. I am finishing up the first one right now. I would need to order sleeves for yours as I only have 2 sets for the first 2 aluminum blocks. Tod |
