Question Replacement gas tank question

Looking for a gas tank to replace the rusted out tank on my new 28 RPU I came across the car in the attached pictures, but I'm confused buy this configuration. The tank is covered by the cowl. It looks the same as my 28 tank, but being covered by the cowl I don't know if it is the same. Is this the same tank as my 28 RPU and what model is this and how do I get it out?

That's a 28-9 blindback sedan. The tank should be the same, but it sure has been stored in a humid location, so it may not be any good either.

See that bent radiator support rod. If it has a cupped flat washer under the mounting nut, I need the washer.

As far as removal, I think you need to remove the steering, then lower the tank and pull it from the inside.

If get back there, I'll check out the washer Tom. I guess the tank comes out through the interior is that right?

Yes, I haven't removed one, but gathered this from other posters over the years.

I have removed several 28-29 fordor tanks. They are the same but have a few extra holes. They also have a felt pad that fits around the filler hole between the top of the tank & cowl. If this pad has remained wet there may be a rust problem around the filler. They do remove from inside. You have to remove the narrow filler panel on the firewall.

I don't think that washer is the cupped style like my 28 has. My 28 has one flat washer like you show, and one cupped washer, which I'd like to find a mate for it.
