There is a great description of one in the latest FAST magazine, along with how it was done.

That was my article in the latest F.A.S.T. magazine. It is a Speedway Motors pump intended for a Chevy V8 that I machined my own housing for. Here's a couple pictures showing the original housing and the one I machined,

I have considered putting one in the lower water return pipe area, so that you are pushing cold water up into the block, like a modern car's water pump does. That is more efficient than trying to pull hot water out of the block. Detroit learned this decades ago.

Then you could put either a blank out plate where the stock water pump mounts (if you are taking care of fans by another means) or you could install a stock looking water pump and fan with no impeller on the shaft. Either would do fine.

Hum, when you add a water pump to a Model T it (if it's one of the good ones) pushes water into the block.

I have a friend who runs an electric pump and elec fan in his '26 Chrysler. Sounds strange when he turns it off, walks away and they are still running but it has worked well for many thousands of miles in HOT conditions.
I can't see why it wouldn't do just as well on a Model A.

The aftermarket Model T water pumps got it right. They push the water. Henry got it wrong with the pump on the hot side.

Here's an example of a pump I found but have not personally used.

Crazy money but does what you need.

Remember the Ramblers, with the water pump running off the back of the GENERATOR? '26 Studebakers ran their OIL PUMPS, off the back of the generator, also.

I've used a generic 'pusher pump' on my speedster for years. It works well and makes it easier to change engines, can be left on for awhile after shutting the engine down, etc.

The Model A is a thermal siphon with a helper pump with open non pressure system. Wouldn't you have to make the cooling system a closed pressure system if you add a higher volume water pump like modern cars?

No. Having a water pump in the radiator outlet (cold side) and having a pressurized cooling system are independent of each other.

For example, I had a '41 Chrysler with a flat head 6 cyl. engine with the water pump on the cool side and no pressure on the cooling system. It worked quite well.
