A adapter plates
might be the wrong place, but ill ask it anyways, on my way with a speedster project, and when the A engine is used up I have a B or C engine{depending on who you believe} im going to rebuild. but it got me thinkin seeinf as im going to run a hood im wondering if any of you guys have swapped in a pinto engine or something like that? yes I know its not right, but it just got me thinkin what would fit and work good in there. in the past there must have been adapter plates and such for some engines?

Do a search and you will find all kinds of reasons not to use that engine. Here is a start; http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78089

Re: A adapter plates
Didn't the Shay Roadster use a Pinto power train?
Why keep the transmission if you're swapping engines?

Re: A adapter plates
Pinto motors have no low-end torque. you have to rev the nuts off them to get them to do anything

Re: A adapter plates
Pinto's are outdated technology.
Use an Olds Quad 4 or Ford Focus. You can get 300 hp from them. |

You are probably thinking of the kit that was available in the seventies to mate a Pinto to a stock Model A transmission. I think it was poorly designed (Model A flywheel at the end of a Pinto crank), didn't look right and was underpowered. The only good thing about the conversion was that it was easy to go back to the original engine, which is what most people did. Re: A adapter plates
I didn't like the Pinto engine even when it was in my Wife's Pinto.
