Default shock confusion

Rebuilding shocks on a '30 coupe. All marked "Ford Hydraulic Shocks" but don't match anything in any of the manuals, Restorers books, clay tablets or parchments. They are similar but not identical to the Houdialle type as they don't have the "hex" on the flywing shaft cover. Bleeder screw is 2 piece instead of one piece. Don't think they are aftermarket as they were praactically rusted onto the car, however they did come apart fairly easy and are very clean inside. Have kits (o-rings, etc) ordered. Three of my other "A's " ('28 Business coupe, '28 Phaeton and '29 Pickup) have the same "Ford" shocks. My '31 Tudor has a weird shock that I haven't tried , as yet, to identify. Any ideas?

In the 1980's Peter Buciak, d/b/a Antique Auto Parts by Pete, West Superior Street in Chicago sold reproduction shocks stamped with Ford in script, had some limited adjustment and were oil filled. They closely resembled originals in size and shape. These could be what you have.

Thanks barnstuf. I would suspect these are much older than the 80's but could be wrong. I'll post results with the rebuilding kits in a day or so. AAp by Pete must have sold a bunch of them in Florida as I have 5 more that look like they have been anchoring crab traps.

BARNSTUF, I have a set of shock that are rapped in Chicago Times paper 1991. They have the Ford script, made in Chicago USA. They are brass bodied, arms are made of brass. Would they be the ones made by Peter Buciak ? Is he still in business ?

He passed away, the son sold what was left, the son didn't fill some orders that was pre-paid. This has been a number of years ago. The shocks and arms were brass.

Ron, thanks for the info. I'm trying to insert some pics of those shocks. Not sure how to do just yet. Might help someone identify. Haven't tried them yet, not sure how good they are or were suppose to be.

Got the pics in but had to post a new thread " SHOCK CONFUSION BRASS SHOCKS FROM CHICAGO REVISITED" I think that's it.
