Default Windshield choice; tinted or no?

I'm ready to have a windshield glass cut for my '29 woody(150A). Its the ONLY glass in this model of A.
Any suggestions on the color of glass to use are appreciated.
Is there any advantage to a tinted glass?
Thanks for any/all feedback, Jeff

Non original - but infrequently seen.

I wonder if a "glare resistant" glass is available? This appreciating the difficulty that some have with night-time driving with the windshield closed (I normally tilt mine out an inch or so to eliminate 95 percent of glare issues.)

Some jurisdictions don't allow heavily tinted glass. Something about a requirement for "official inspection" and to evaluate the physical state of the driver while in motion. A lot of places don't enforce the rule too.

if you do, make it a light tint. i did the side and back windows on my wide-bed, and like it.

if i am reading your post correctly your not tinting the glass with a film but want to know about either replacing it with a tinted (solar ray) piece or not.
i would keep it stock untinted..

[B]For my Cabriolet I purchased the green tint package from Macs.m The difference in cost for all the glass tinted was about $150 more than the clear. The entire kit for windshield, 2 sides and a rear glass was $471 dollars. The clear was $ 325. I personally think it cuts down on the glare significantly. It was also available in bronze and grey. Since you are speaking of the windshield only, I do not see any significant difference between the clear or light green tint glass since the windshield is relatively small and the car probably has a visor at the top of the windshield. Bronze or gray tinted glass will probably not be a good idea for night driving.

Speaking form experience, none of these tints will have any affect on the "reflectivity syndrome" that our cars experience do to the flat and parallel windows.

Peace,
Phred

We did a tint on all the windows on the sedan. Well actually it is virtually clear but it reduces the heat, saw it at SEMA a couple of years ago and was impressed with the heat reduction with out a tint.

Thanks for the feedback on my windshield question. my car is a "survivor" (read lotsa "patina"). I plan to keep it that way, but the windshield was 2-pieces of plate glass, and that's unacceptable, so I thought, since I need glass, that a light tint might work. I think I'll look at a light green tint.
Thanks again, Jeff

I replaced the clear windshield in my 1928 Roadster when it broke with one that had a slight tint. There was a noticeable difference when driving in sunny weather and I liked it. The tint was light enough that it was not noticeable to anyone but myself and a few other Model A owners.

I say go for it, shouldn't be a big difference in price, for me there was no difference in price for clear or tinted. Novus made the windshield for me and did a nice job, but they couldn't make wind wings worth a darn, even with the pattern I supplied.

The tints are shown and the additional prices notated in the current Mac's catalogue.

I found this 150A in New Hampshire. It was originally bought new by the hardware store owner in a small town; it has 64000 miles on it and it had never left NH. off the road since the '70-'80s.
I think that I'm the third owner. I'm re-doing the mechanicals, but trying to preserve the 85 years of "experience" that the car has acquired.
Of course this is the "story". I found it on Ebay, so some/all/none of this tale may be true.
BUT, I'm havin' some fun with it, and that's all that matters.

I would now go with a light tint . I haven't in the past but feel that it would be a good thing. I suppose that it would lose points in national judging if it was detected .
