Marvel Schebler carb question
Can anyone tell me what the Model 10-2929 is/was used on, its a single barrel carb.
I read that the 10-2928 Model was used as a replacement on the 34-40 v8s but cannot find any info on the 2929 Model. Any help would be appreciated, also a cfm rating if known. The one I have(2929) was used on an A model motor out of an old race car and are trying to sort the difference using this opposed to a 94 or 97 carb. |

Google keywords "10-2929" & "carburetor". Something useful might pop up..Jack E/NJ

Leads me to eBay adds with info I’m not convinced the sellers really know.

Re: Marvel Schebler carb question
Marvel Schebler, a division of Borg Warner, supplied carbs to all sorts of manufacturers before they went completely over to aviation type carbs. They were in the automotive aftermarket business too. A lot depends on what type of base it has. The ones in the flea-pay adds have a universal 2-venturi type base that would fit a lot of different engine models with all the different pattern bolt holes they have.
The Ford G series 226 used a single venturi carburetor as well as the H series later but they had the single venturi base and I'm sure they came with Holley types. It wouldn't make much sense to put a single venturi carb on a V8 unless it was for multi carb applications. My 1956 Ford 850 tractor has a Marvel Schebler on it but it's an updraft type single venturi carb. Last edited by rotorwrench; 05-08-2021 at 10:56 AM. |

Re: Marvel Schebler carb question
Looks like some of the 1-bbl carbs have base adapters that fit 2-bbl intake manifolds. Probably a marketing ploy back in the day to replace those huge 2-bbl fuel hogs..Jack E/NJ

Re: Marvel Schebler carb question
So does this mean you're gonna try to run with an after-market throw-away 1-bbl paperweight instead of a 2-bbl 97 or 94? Should be interesting. Let us know how it goes. Jack E/NJ

Re: Marvel Schebler carb question
Also a later post from the carb specialist, and it does have the adjustable main jet,,
Barrelnose - some of the M/S aftermarket carburetors, while less than ideal in either design or quality of materials; did feature externally adjustable main metering jet(s), which might appeal to a racer. As you say, we will never know. As he retained the unit, we must assume he was happy with it. |
