need help with 36 cabriolet front sheet metal
Its been 15 years since I tore this car down, and I havent a clue as to how the sheet metal fits back on the front, particurlarly the front fenders, inner panels and grill to go to ind front suspension and after market radiator.
any pix of bracing the fenders to the frame and/or cross member would be greatly appreciated. email pix to [email protected] Thank you very much to any responders. |

Joe,
I'd love to see those pictures myself as a refresher here on the Fordbarn. I am putting a '36 back together. Bruce/CT

I also had a slightly sprung hood on both sides which made things all the more 'fun'. The tips of the hood at the front were bent upward slightly, which made it seem like it was not closing all the way. Mine ain't perfect but it does line up fairly well and there is no binding in opening and closing the hood. |

Re: need help with 36 cabriolet front sheet metal
I have had my '36 completely apart and together three times over the years. Installing the front sheet metal is a pain and takes a good day of work. However it can be done with one person; what I have found is that it is essential to keep the frame bolts and support angled bracket for the headlight stands nice and loose- see picture. That way you can wiggle the headlight stand back and forth to make the upper and forward bolts line up that go through the sheet metal. Assemble the fender front aprons (that have the horn grilles) to the grille before mounting the grille. Be sure to place the big fenders completely over the louvered inner fenders or you will be swearing a blue streak- I know from personal experience.
