in the 70's i think it was the pickup was last on the list..... try buying a good 180A [when they come up forsale] or a Roadster... I mean a good one. There was only 1 fordor i know sold for $38,000 and i would say one of the best around. Price out a roadster or 180a in that same shape... The last one i know of [180A] sold for $73,000 at Auction 2 years ago.Again same car forsale this year at Hershey [owner died]..I think it might have something to do with the PRICE..and not perference change.

Have a Roadster but always liked the look of a Vicky. Had a rough '32 Vicky a few years ago, someday I'll find a good one 31-32.

I have owned a 30 Deluxe roadster since 1962! Restored it and drove it to california in 1965. visited the carrol shelby plant and have always had a ball with the car.
The trouble is- I am now 66 years old and if I put some one in the rumble seat it is very difficult getting in and out. If they fall and break a hip I would feel horrible. Plus the grand children are not allowed to ride with out seat belts..... Even tho their Moms grew up in the rumble seat!!!!
So while it is still my favorite Model A I can gives rides to all ages in my 29 Town Sedan and it is great fun......

Yeh, that seat belt law has caught up with us in OZ too.

Kids under 8 now can't be carried with no seat belts.

Before this new law, only post 1965 cars HAD to have belts.

Pre 1965 cars that had no belts from factory were exempt.

Here, the law also states that any seat that is closer than 200 mm to the side structure of a body, any belts fitted must be lap/sash.

So, how do you fit lap/sash to a tourer or roadster?

One guy i know building an A rod who MUST have belts was going to fit a single central seat in rumble with a lap only and change it after rego.

This is no good either, as then the changed out double seat with laps and the extra person is illegal and he could/will be prosecuted, and if someone was injured or killed, he would be up for manslaughter.

I think some of it may be that many of us are getting older and some new to the "hobby" are older and a 2 0r 4 dr sedan is more practical as an all around vehicle ( ease of entry, ability to carry something, etc.). Before I got my tudor I tried a roadster p/up, I could get in but couldn't make feet work pedals, reg p/up a little better, Coupe would work, but tudor I could move seat back 6" and N I C E. My knees still work so far I'm good to go. Also in inclement weather a closed car is more practical, especially with fall upon us. JMO

Could it be that we are getting older and the wind in our hair doesn't have the same afect, that is if we still have hair. I know the roof of my coupe sure feel nice anymore. That must mean I'm getting old, Darn it.

Here in Florida a car that never had seat belts do not need them now except if you want to carry kids. All the laws having to do with kids and seat belts are valid no matter what year the car.

A bit different here.

All cars made after 1965 must have belts even if they were not originally fitted.

Thats why I sold my 30 Std Phaeton a few years ago. I could not ride in the front comfortably and I tried all the tricks (compresses seat springs, etc).

There is/was just no way to increase the leg room so I reluctantly sold it.

I knew when I drove it home the first time it was going to be a problem but I thought...well..I wont drive it much and it will be cool to ride around in a convertible.

Not true.

Not cool.....COLD.....

I am quite happy with the 30 coupe and the 30 tudor as each has more than enough leg room (once modified) and I am six feet five inches.

And the hot water heater keeps it nice and warm and snug in rainy and cold weather.

You know whats the next step for you old guy's.. Selling you "A"s and buying a car in the 50's or 60's. Air ,auto ,power brakes ,steering you know all the comforts of home. Seen it more then once already..l.o.l.
