Re: freeze and release by locktite
Have you tried it? Not too expensive to experiment with.

Re: freeze and release by locktite
Wonder if it's something like R-12, R-22, or similar refrigerant?

Re: freeze and release by locktite
I use it as "insurance" when I have something that looks like it will really be a problem. I was taking some steel fittings out of a used aluminum head, that promised to be a real problem. I hit them with a regular penetrant several times over a couple of days, then heated the head up in my oven. I took the head out of the oven, and hit the fitting with this stuff and it came right out. Did this stuff do it? I dunno, but I got the fittings out with no damage. I think its the combination of care, time, and multiple methods that make it work. Like "mhsprecher" says, it's expensive, so I save it for special cases like this.

Save yourself some money and go to Autozone and buy their CNC generic version. It works great. I took off my exhaust manifold bolts by heating up the block with a propane torch and then spraying the bolt.

Yep. Lots of $10 add up, but one or two, I can live with!

Liquid propane from an inverted cylinder. Watch out for sparks or other ignition source if you use a lot in a confined space. Anything that uses a CO2 propellant should work too. Jack E/NJ!

Re: freeze and release by locktite
It's not an economical product; they say in the instructions to give it "a 20 or 30 second shot"; that'll shorten the life of the product by a bunch. I don't think that the "penetrant" that is incorporated in it is worth a shit. The cooling aspect is what is important. I've used it and it does spray out COLD. I'll say it again : expensive, but an excellent backup in extreme circumstances.
