Default 1940 Ford radiator

Does anyone know who sells the original style copper radiators for a 40 Ford flat head at a decent price? The best I found so far is Drake at $850.00. Mac's is $849.99

I pay $500 to have my '40 split core radiators properly recored around here. Once I have removed the tanks, I do the necessary "body work" on them prior to being soldered on to the new cores.
I have not heard any great reviews on the repop radiators. I might suggest you start a post in hopes of getting some first hand feedback.
I did hear they are considerably lighter than the original. I don't have a clue how that may or may not effect its longevity.

Check with U.S. Radiator; www.usradiator.com. they are located in Vernon, Ca. Also check e-Bay as Bryce Thomas also makes copper brass radiators. Just search for 1940 Ford radiator. I don't believe either company does the original split core type if that is what you need.

For "original styled" I have used Walker Radiator with great success. Had one in my old 40 coupe and it was great. Put one in my avatar and had a pinhole leak. They paid for shipping there and back and I think gave me a new radiator. Whether it was new or repaired it's still in my avatar with no issues ....

It's best if you go to an nsra show where Walker vends and order it there. They usually offer a discount and free shipping if they do not have it on site. I ordered one from them at the Rocky Mountain Nats several years ago. Radiator listed at $850+. I got it for $700 and free shipping ....

I took radiator to shop and pressure tested. All good except over flow tube which they repaired. It must have been a lower hose leaking as they were very rotten and were actually dissolving on the inside. I couldn't see the hose leaking because of the lower pan under the radiator..

For what its worth, I bought a used original off ebay for about 100, had it tested -it failed. and recored with split copper cores for $650 at a local radiator shop.

Split core will be about $1250. You can get it from Brassworks. I passed on the split core myself for my 41. You can have a great radiator or a cheap radiator but not both in the same radiator. https://fordbarn.com/forum/showthrea...+core+radiator

My guess is the radiator that Drake or Mac's sell is off shore. One from Brassworks is made in Paso Robles, CA. Outstanding quality. You get what you pay for.

According to their website ,US Radiator ,for a 40 running a flathead 2.25" core radiator is $420.Might be worth a call.I ran one of theirs in my deuce for yrs and it fit right + never gave me any problems.
