Default Sound Deadner

Anyone have any suggestions for sound Deadner to use in the roof of my Zephyr before installing the headliner?

You might want to consider this product > http://hushmat.com/

REDUCES NOISE > 50% & REDUCES HEAT > 70%

or, this product on eBay > http://www.ebay.com/itm/60-x39-Firew...%3D30153720558

Depends on what you want to spend! There are a lot of neat high dollar ways to go.

I want a good product that's gonna be there and not have to worry about it coming loose or sagging. I've come this far and not really trying to save a dollar or cut corners, just want something that works and will be there.

Get a gallon of roofing cement from Home Depot.

Yep, often you get what you pay for. I tried some budget sound deadener on the inside roof of our 37 coupe. Next day my son says why is the sound deadener on the floor. Yes it was clean and rolled thoroughly.
I prefer to know the job is done well as once the upholstery goes up it's too late to realise you save some bucks , but didn't save any noise or heat. I have just used the expensive dynamat in all my cars ( bar one which has no need fro upholstery) .

so does mine. It has separated from the roof and is laying on top of the headliner. It sounds like hitting a 55 gallon barrel when I close the doors.

Twenty something years ago I put 2 sticky squares from the roofing section in Home Depot in the center of my roof. After that I got a dull thud when the door closed and was there when I sold the car last fall.

I bought a roll of the stuff from Lowe's. Aluminum on outside, peel and stick on the inside. Put it on the roof of my brand X (49 Hudson)three years ago. It's still there and I feel sorry for the guy that tries to remove it ! I also used it inside the doors. Of course, you must be sure the surface is super clean.

That's why I ask about cost in my first post. There are numinous cheap solutions, they all work to some extent, but if you are interested in a top quality job there is a difference! To some the difference in performance and quality are worth the price. And to others it's not, about like anything else.

I used the same stuff as SuperDave. After a car show in the Ca. sun the inside of the car was HOT. Have since moved but the insulation has been in the car for 17 years now with no problem.

The dynamat is expensive, but, I did my 40 P/U cab with it and it is so quiet you would think you were in a new car. You can't even hear the quickchange whine. I would use it again in a heart beat. However there may be other products that work as well.
