1941 bumper?
Which is the correct bumper? I thought the more square bumper was correct until I found this picture (and a few others like it). Mine is this type as well but I thought someone had put a 40 bumper on it. The picture appears to be period by the background ( you can't see the background due to my zooming in on the bumper )

Re: 1941 bumper?
The Super Deluxe uses the "more square" bumper along with the 1942 Deluxe.

Re: 1941 bumper?
Here are two comparison pictures of a Deluxe with the regular rounded bumpers and a Super Deluxe with the more square bumpers. These bumpers are correct for the respective models. Hope this helps.

Re: 1941 bumper?
Thanks for the information. Are the 41 Deluxe bumpers the same as 40 bumpers?

Re: 1941 bumper?
I think the bumper ends on the Deluxe intergrate better with the bumper than the Super dDeluxe but super deluxe bar is nicer.

Re: 1941 bumper?
Fibber- I believe the mounting holes are the same distance apart so I think you could bolt a 40 bumper on a 41 or vice versa.

Re: 1941 bumper?
Deuce.... you are correct. I bought a Bob Drake '41 Rear Bumper with Ford stamped in it and it bolted right up with no problems.

Re: 1941 bumper?
Thanks. I've noticed 40 bumpers are more available.

Re: 1941 bumper?
The ridges on the 41 bumpers are further apart than the 40 bumpers. Its my understanding that some replacement bumpers had the ridges further apart. I have a set that came off the same car one has the close ridges and the other further apart. He purchased the car in the late 50's from the original owner - so i am told.

Re: 1941 bumper?
I don't know what year mine are but apparently they are poorly chromed reproductions as the chrome is flaking off.

Re: 1941 bumper?
I agree with Graeme from New Zealand that the End Tips on the Deluxe models seem more integrated and smoother than the ones on the Super Deluxe that appear to be awkward?

Re: 1941 bumper?
I definitely agree with that. The Super Deluxe tips look like an afterthought.

Re: 1941 bumper?
I don't know if this is of any help. I have a 41 ford Tudor Special. My bumpers are smooth with no bumperetts or ends. My rear is the same with "ford" stamped in the middle. Ends are rounded and there are no ribs front or rear.
