Default Loss of a great man

I just learned that Bill Bentley had passed away. As many of you might remember he picked up the pieces of the old Flathead Forum and made it into a terrific site. He also established the Techno-Source with Flathead related technical offerings.

And, finally, Bill helped me get my original printing of Flathead Facts books done by a company he was familiar with in Chicago. He was a great friend and loved our old Fords.

Wow - that is sad to hear, he was such an advocate of our beloved Flatheads and did so much for us all. RIP Bill - you were a good man!

Gosh, it's so sad when the good guys drive off into the sunset.
Thank you Bill for making the car world a better place.

John, thank you for letting us know about Bill. I followed his Flathead site before becoming a Fordbarn member, and his Techno site is priceless. Learned so much from both sites.

Rest in peace Bill Bently

Hi Everyone, JWL, Thanks for the information. I didn't know him, or of him, but he sounds like a respected gentleman.

Here's a link to the techno-site, you mentioned.

Another leader in our hobby gone. I'm glad that others, like JWL, have followed in his footsteps.

I remember Bill, he was a nice guy and active on the internet when hot rod and flathead forums were in their infancy. I was proud to have my web site "Marts Real Hot rods" included in the flathead web ring. He was instrumental in bringing flathead information to people via the world wide web.

RIP Bill.

JWL: Thanks for posting this - I was unaware of this tremendous loss. I well remember your comments concerning this gentleman, and your steering me to his website - and I have used it (and your and Ol' Ron's books) extensively. A profound sense of loss for all of us; however, we can rest assured knowing that Bill is busy explaining the flathead to anyone in heaven who cares to listen! Godspeed Bill!

I learned of Bill's Aug. 20th passing a few days later when I tried contacting him. I held off posting any information because I found no obituary notices in either IL or MI, and decided to wait until I spoke with his wife while attending a memorial for him on Sept. 3rd, held at a location near his Grand Junction MI. home. I posted the details that day on the Ford Flathead V8 web site, with his wife Lue's permission.
I mistakenly thought all who knew him regularly visited his old V8 site and would read the posting, and now apologize to those who are now just learning about Bill, as I should have also posted on this forum.

No apologies needed - sounds like you were a real friend of Bill's and his family - glad you had the chance to know him and honor him in his passing.
