Default 1949 Mercury Radio Install

I'm an idiot....
I have the chrome bezel for the radio installed on the face of my 1949 Mercury dash. Can anyone tell me how the actual radio attaches to the car?
Thanks!!

There are 2 radio suppot brackets that hold it in place. They attach to the firewall. 50 and 51 are the same. I think 49 are different size, but operate on the same principle. You could make them without too much trouble. I think I have them installed upside down in the photo. Those radios are big and heavy.I have the tubes from my 49-51 Merc radios if you need any.

The 50 and 51 do not attach to the firewall (believe 49 is the same) they attach to the dash.

Thanks for the correction. I assume that those brackets must attach to the radio facing forward.

On my 1949...There are no holes on the face of the dash for the radio knob shafts to slide through. So those brackets must attach to the firewall or the underside structure of the dash.

Think you've got it right. The '49 brackets as listed are shorter. They are
6-3/16" and 4-15/16" long.
Here a couple pic's of the '50-'51 setup
