Thread size/pitch for zerk fittings? 1/4" NPT?
Can someone tell me the size for the zerk fittings for the trans case and pedals? I believe it's 1/4" NPT thread, but I don't have pipe thread gauges to confirm.
Thanks, |

Most are 1/8" pipe threads. If it looks to be about 3/8" diameter it is 1/8" pipe.

Today the standard "common" grease fitting is
1/4-28. I fitted a few thousand of them when I was working for a suspension manufacturer. Don't know about our old trucks and cars..... |

It depends on year and type of vehicle. If you get a copy of the green bible, just look up the pedal part number and below it will have the lubricator fitting. In the back of the book there is a list of hardware and the different P/N 3530XX-X lubricator fittings and what size each one is.
This chassis parts catalog is a must for anything 1948 & prior. |

Kingpin bosses are 1/4-28.
Most others are 1/8 NPT as said. |

While we are on the subject of grease fittings, = why will a new grease gun not fit onto the zerk fittings on my '41? Bought another tip for the grease gun and it would not go on either. The old grease gun I have from 50 years ago goes on okay, but it does not have the flexible tube that I need to get onto some of the zerks.

FWIW. The smallest Zerk fittings I've come across are the uncommon 1/16" pipe thread. The only application for that size thread I have ever seen.

Model A has a mix of press in and threaded. The threaded ones are 1/8” npt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1/8-27 NPT, The flank angle is 60°
1/8-28 BSP, The flank angle is 55° It's easy to mix them up, especially for us here on the other side of the pond where the BSP thread is more frequent! Jorgen |
