Default !5 T Tranz drums

Hi all you T guys , I have a friend that had broken down in his 15 T The reverse on it did not work. On lifting the Tran's cover it has the 1st gear and 2nd gear drum cracked with a chunk out of the front one ,with the bands shredded !, The replacement bands look like chassis webbing ,wax impregnated material .Any one have any ideas on why the cracks ,Has some one turned these thin in a lath ,Thanks Teds

They were prone to this , if the bands were set to tight or the pedel was held engaged while traveling the drums would get hot and crack. New trums are costly but available they can be mounted on your old hubs. People also use the reverse pedal for a brake , this tends to cause the problem also.
