I ordered champion spark plugs at Amazon. They advertise a box of ten at x amount of dollars. I thought the price was low but decided to give them a try. Next day I get one plug delivered. I complain to one of their representatives and he agrees with me that there should be a box of ten per advertised. He tells me to keep the one I got and he will send out a new order free. Guess what, today the box comes and only 1 in the box. If you leave a comment they don't like they will not post it. All I was trying to do is get what they advertised. I am going to call them again and see what happens. If I persist and get lucky I may get a set of 4 eventually. I hate to complain but I am a stickler about some things.

Yeah, someone messed up somewhere. I think a typo, they left a "0" out. More like $455.70 for ten. No way you are going to find Champion 3X plugs for $4.56 each. Last time I bought a set they were ~$18.00 That was about 6 years ago. Cheapest I have seen them lately is $27.99 each.

I am testing this all out. I just ordered a box of 10, we'll see what they send. At least it was free shipping, and If I took their visa card it would have been free!

My opinion: This whole discussion is a waste of forum space. These plugs are $27.00 - $32.00 each no matter where you look. Expecting to pay $3.50 each is not realistic. It's obvious there's a misprint ---- somebody made a mistake somewhere.

I hate that the seller has the ability to accept or reject comments left by buyers. That makes the comments completely useless, as only the good ones will appear.

I can't blame a person for wanting to pay a low price for these relatively expensive plugs but common sense tell you that most sources sell them for a similar price for each item. If sold in bundles, the most likely quantity is what it takes for a full set and that would be a quantity of four. To expect someone to take a loss on their parts is a pretty big expectation.

The price being so low should have been a red flag. Most of the time you can expect to get what you order but occasionally you will get ripped off. Years ago I bought something on ebay and never got it. The seller stalled until the time had passed to get my money back. Last communication I got from him he said that he had no intention to send me the item.

Some time ago I ordered some items off the Wally World web site and found out pretty quick that the item didn't come from them but were sold by an independent company using their web site. I got shorted on one item from an advertised set but they didn't help at all. Once was enough to sour my need to ever do business on their site again.

Amazon is somewhat loose on their web share advertising. In the OPs case, they made the buddy company cough up another item for his mistake but they should have insisted that the offender correct his advertisement or boot him off their site. It sort of suggests that it's not their problem. Caveat Emtor.

A mistake by someone, red flags or anything else doesn't alter the fact that they advertised a box of 10 for that price. I don't know what consumer protection legislation exists over there but here, Amazon is obliged to delver what they advertised.
This sort of unscrupulous behaviour is why I have absolutely NOTHING to with Amazon. Experience has taught me what they are like.
Don't get me started on Paypal or Amex.

If you research or google you will find Amazon has a disclaimer covering incorrect description including incorrect pricing. Incorrect prices will not be honoured.

The reviews don't tend to disparage this sale, and only one review said 1 plug was received. Anyway I paid with VISA, and kept a copy of the ad.

With the virus and business disruptions and bankruptcies going on, who can determine if something is being sold off by a liquidator that is pricing all the plug stock at a similar price? I guess I will find out. Just an optimist I guess.

I have never bought 3x plugs before. I saw them on Amazon and thought, why not.. I am a stickler for detail. If I see 4 for a dollar I expect to get 4 or ask why and if it is a mistake 90 percent will sell it to you then correct the problem. Amazon contacted me today and advised me that they will honor the mistake. Will see what happens.

I contacted [email protected] and they contacted me within 30 minutes. They agreed with me that if it says box of ten then it should be. They refunded my money, let me keep the 2 plugs and said I should get what their add stated. I will see what happens.

IMO, Amazon should give the seller a "good talking to". Dishonesty should not be tolerated and if they did it twice, they are being dishonest IMO.

The thing with that Amazon ad is there is more than one vendor selling them, at least six. Look under "Other sellers". Are they all selling a "Carton of ten" for whatever price they are asking? From $10.67 up? I don't think so.

I wouldn't feel too bad about the prices with what I know about spark plugs. Champion makes single tip iridium plugs for aircraft engines that are the longest lasting plugs in the industry but the price averages at $105 for each plug. When a 4-cylinder engine uses 8 of them the you can see that they have a lot more to cry about. Naturally, a lot of operators purchase the cheaper heavy electrode plugs that come in at a little higher to the price of the old 3X but they only last about 1/3 of the amount of time that the iridium plugs do so a person pays a lot either way they go.
