Use an unlit propane torch to check for intake leaks.

I've never had any luck using propane on A unless the fan belt is off.Gas in an old oil squirt can still seems to work the best for me.Some of the new carb and electrical cleaners are non-flammable too,so you have to make sure they actually will work before you try.Just because they say danger,do not use around an open flame it doesn't mean they will burn.

What coil are you using? For 12 volt you need one w/a primary winding of ~3 ohms, or one w/a primary winding of ~1-1/2 ohms and a ballast resistor of ~ 1-1/2 ohms (in series w/the coil).
