Exhaust/intake manifold ?
Looks like I have a gasket leak on my exhaust manifold, and am wondering which is the best gasket material to use for the replacements.
Also, I do not find a recommendation for torqueing the manifold nuts, and should they be torqued with the manifold hot or cold? Thanks all, as usual Burt |

Re: Exhaust/intake manifold ?
I like the copper gasket and just snug the bolts, then check them again after a couple heat cycles.

Re: Exhaust/intake manifold ?
Make sure you install the washers correctly or you'll break the manifold.

Re: Exhaust/intake manifold ?
Mac's has two copper clad gasket sets, they are identical except one set has "glands" built into them. Is there a preference?
Thanks again burt |

Re: Exhaust/intake manifold ?
The glands help, if your manifolds, particularly your exhaust, line up properly with the ports.

Re: Exhaust/intake manifold ?
I put a TINY bead of high temp exhaust sealant around the bores on both sides of the copper gasket (NOT enough to "squirt" out)---I WON'T tell you how tight I torque them, 'cause everybody will ARGUE about it!
If you want to know, just PM me. Bill W.
