Default Aluminum roof trim 30 coupe

Installing new roof on July 30 coupe, question, is the aluminum trim seal painted black or left plain aluminum. Mine was covered in roof tar, farmer fix, so I'm not sure. Judging standards leads me to think painted but its not clear. What's the norm? Thanks

99.9% sure it is painted upper body color. 30 coupe is a 45-B body type. According to the chart on page 9-2 the 45-B top mouldings were aluminum until 6-31. On page 9-1 quote "Aluminum mouldings were installed earlier and were painted with the body."

I would use self-etching primer on aluminum.

The self-etching primer is probably a good idea although I used regular primer with acrylic lacquer (body color) when I painted the aluminum roof trim on my coupe in 1979 and have had no problems with paint adhesion and/or durability in the 34 years since.
