Default head bolt sealant?Exhaust cross over?

What are you using for head bolt sealant?

When installing the intake on a eng is any one sealing off the exhaust cross over?

thanks,

jim

I use a good teflon pipe thread sealer. Not a good idea to block the exhaust crossover. The heat helps to vaporize the fuel and the engine will run better. Racers would block the crossover to get a denser charge for slightly more power.

I knew about the reasons on the cross over. Thanks for reinforcing them. Any particular brand of Teflon sealer?

Thanks,

jim

Since I have your ear. What about using a early 32 48 alumn intake on a late eng 49 53. There are more bolt holes on the early intake .Do you drill and tap them or just use what is there?

Thanks,

jim

Are use aviation permatex to seal the head bolts or studs. It works very well. U

in the south as in GA. you do need to close off the crossover to keep from boiling this crap they call gas and be sure to avoid ethanol laced gas it is even worse
