A while back I saw a movie about Charles Lindbergh's New York to Paris flight, in the scene just before takeoff was a Model A.
The flight was in May 1927, Model A's didn't come out until November 1927, I guess nobody told the producers.

This reminds me of a time when our club had the chance to provide cars for a movie. We sent photos of member’s cars that were willing to particiapate so they could choose which cars they wanted. They nixed my dad’s red phaeton because it was not an original color, but instead chose to use a Shay in their production. So much for their concern about being original.

Thanks I'll watch the flick just for the fun of it. I like seeing films with these periods of cars in them. As long as there are no Shay or (dread) Classtique Model A's yow

They did one about B&C a few years ago that was fun to watch. Most people don't pick up on the years of the cars not matching the time frame. Anyway, in that movie, the opening scene was a really snazzy 1 1/2 ton 1936 Ford wrecker pulling B&C's '34 Ford into town with them shot up and dead inside. May, 1934.

I DID love that truck, Washington Blue I had to freeze frame it and look that one over real good!!

I read the biography of Frank Hamer entitled "The Epic Life of Frank Hamer, Texas Ranger." The book is 461 pages long. It is a good read. I can tell you that there wasn't much mercy if you were caught in the act! Chapter 22 is entitled "We Shot The Devil Out of Them." Ed

If one person sees the movie and thinks Wow it would be nice to own one of those cars then its good enough for me . I did and I already have a model A and a 34 V8. There was plenty incorrect on the V8 (Wipers, Door Pulls Dash and trim finish , non original heater, reproduction Grey Hound and so on ) However most people would have no idea and still IMHO a great movie

I like watching "old" movies on TCM (Turner Classic Movies). You get to see movies that were made in the 20's and 30's a lot. And Model-A's are not that common in many of them. The original Bonnie & Clyde movie made in 1967, I believe. Starring Warren Beatty & Fay Dunaway used some Model-A's, but also a lot of other brand antique cars. The 30's gangster movies they make today are almost all Model-A's. Like I have said before in an
early thread. No self respecting gangster of the 30's would have been caught, even dead, in a Model-A. They were men of respect and stature,
in their eyes that is, who drove Cadillac's, Lincoln's, Packard's, Hudson's,
etc.

PS: A couple of weeks ago I was watching a movie on TCM called "Dancing Girl". Made in 1933, starring Clark Cable and Joan Crawford.
Near the beginning of the movie an early 30's Cadillac multi-cylinder
Town Car, driven by a chauffeur, stops in front of a Broadway theater.
A couple of 'swells' (20's/30's word for snobs) get out. The lady makes
a comment about how she likes the car. And, I am 99% sure the guy
says: "I would rather be in my Model-A!". I literally fell out of my chair
wondering out loud if what I think he said..was said?!?
