Difference in steering box bearings
I never noticed any difference in the steering box worm bearings. There must be some difference. The 32-35? ones are like $15 bucks and the 36-48 like $8 bucks. I have worked early and late boxes and just thru all the good bearings together. Is there a problem using one or the other in the wrong app? I am having stiff steering from a F100 box and have no idea what year bearings I used. Is there any tell tail clue as to which is which?

Re: Difference in steering box bearings
The bearings might be the same but the race thickness can be different.

Re: Difference in steering box bearings
When you adjust the gasket thickness during the initial assemble you should be able to get the "feel" you want on the bearings. If that doesn't work out I would suspect a bad bearing or race. Were the bearings (and associated race) inspected closely before assemble?

Re: Difference in steering box bearings
There is a difference between the 5 and 6 P/N bearings. I believe it has to due with the angle of the rollers??? If so the cups would also be matched.
