Re: 1937 Ford Deluxe Touring Tudor and Parts
QUOTE: Pops is an original 85hp car with the correct 24 stud V8 engine, an all new engine designed and introduced for 1937.
Friend, This is not correct. The 24 stud engine was not available for 1937 Ford Production and is not "correct" for 1937 Ford. The 24 stud engine went into production for the 1938 cars after the 1938 models were introduced; many early 1938 cars have the 21 stud. Mid-production and late production 1938 cars have the 24 stud engine. The 24 stud engine was not "introduced" for the 1937 model year. If you look at the photo of the engine in the car offered for sale and count the studs, you will see that there are 21 studs, not 24 studs. The part number on the head is 77-6050, a 21 stud head. Re: 1937 Ford Deluxe Touring Tudor and Parts
From the EFV8CA 1938-39 Ford Book
“One of the most commonly asked questions about 1938 Fords is, "When did they change from 21-stud to 24-stud 85 H.P. cylinder heads and blocks?" Here is the complicated answer from Motor Building records: The Motor Building continued building the 1937-style 85 H.P. engine, 78-6000-A, with 21-cylinder head studs through 11/24/37. “ |

Going way back I seem to remember on the hood sides of a 37 pickup a v/8 emblem with 85 hp

Re: 1937 Ford Deluxe Touring Tudor and Parts
The ad says the car is equipped with the "correct" 24 stud engine. Neither is true. The 24 stud in not correct for the 1937 car and the engine in the car in the ad is a 21 stud engine. Count the studs.

The ad for the car clearly states that the 24 stud is correct for the 1937 Tudor. It is my contention that the 24 stud engine is not correct for 1937 car. The ad further states that the 1937 Tudor in the ad is equipped with a 24 stud engine. It is not; it is equipped with a 21 stud engine. The part number on the head is 77-6050, that is a 21 stud head. You need to go back and read your own ad. |

Re: 1937 Ford Deluxe Touring Tudor and Parts
Thanks, Tony for pointing our my error. I did confirm that "Pops" has a 21 stud engine. I have updated the advertisement.
