Default jig for painting spoked wheels

I have a hub ready:

I don't have a spare axle around. Can anyone post a picture about how to mount it to paint spoked wheels?

Mine is welded vertically to an axle housing.

Last time I used your method I clamped it in a vise a covered the area with a drop cloth, but I was only doing 1 wheel. Friend of mine used an old spindle welded to a pipe and put it in an engine stand.

Clamp it to a saw horse. Spray one side, flip wheel and spray the other side.
I salvaged the turn table from beneath some junk recliners just for this purpose.

Bolt it to an engine stand using the tie rod and drag link holes in the steering arm. The wheel ends up at decent height and the angle of wheel is easily adjusted; also the engine provides a secure and stable; but still portable base.

I used 4 tubing spacers and long bolts thru plywood base to the backing plate holes with nuts. Sort of lazy susan. Conduit, carriage bolts, washers to keep conduit from digging into wood. Old backing plate for drill pattern.

I cut a circle out of plywood that is the wheel center ID. I make another an inch bigger but cut the sides down so it will fit thru the center hole. I use an eye bolt to clamp them together. I hang them with some cord so I can spin them. I have had great results with this method. I made 5 sets of the hangers and do a set of wheels at a time.

i meant to post this earlier. . . it cost me about $30.00 dollars total, you can paint just about any surface of the wheel and the wheel revolves @5 1/2 R.P.M.

felix 37 & texas webb, the motors were sourced at www.surpluscenter.com, the gears came from Amazon, the rollers are surplus urethane, the axles [shoulder bolts] and flanged bushings came from Grainger. the motors were the expensive part, i think they were $8.95 APIECE!
