Default 39-40 Ford Clock Light

I have tried multiple types of pilot bulbs and
I still can't see any light on the clock face.
I disassembled the front to replace clock face.
Maybe I put back together wrong?
Any help appreciated.

Don, On the 1940 wiring diagraham the dash light dimmer switch also controls the light in the clock. Does your instrument panel light up?
Does your dimmer switch work? I just checked my dimmer switch and found that if the dimmer switch for the instrument panle lights is all the way OFF, the clock light will also be off. It comes on when dash light dimmer switch , under the steering column near bottom of dash, is turned on. Make sure l;ight is grounded and that bulb is getting voltage.
Here's a thread that might show helpful photos of the 1940 clock install.

Sorry I did not mention that the clock is on my bench.
It isn't a wiring issue, I may have assembled it wrong?

Did you test the new bulb with a continuity tester? New does not equal good. Are you sure you have a good ground?
