4dr 1/4 window size
I'm all new to Model A's....I'm mostly a 50's/60's car guy but stumbled onto this '30 Town Sedan and couldn't pass it up. Been doing a lot of reading and researching, but I see something that I can't find mentioned anywhere and that's the difference in 1/4 window size on 4dr sedans. I have picked up on the difference between regular sedans and Town Sedans, Murray and Briggs bodies, but I see 1/4 windows that are smaller like mine (the Chicle car) and larger like the other picture I've attached. I can't seem to find if that's model difference, body maker difference, year difference or what. I've seen pictures of both size windows on 30's and 31's, so I don't know what's up....are the bodies longer with the ones with larger 1/4 windows? Doesn't look like it, but I dunno. LOL Anyone got any insight?

Re: 4dr 1/4 window size
Welcome to the Barn DrDave.
That's a sweet looking '30 you have there, I can see why you couldn't pass it up. I have a '31 SW town sedan that I'm going to paint in the same color scheme. I can't explain the quarter window size differences, but I'm sure the more knowledgeable in the Barn will know the reason off the top of their head.

Re: 4dr 1/4 window size
Hi Dr. and welcome to the club. Great looking MURRY Townsedan you have there. They have smaller 1/4 windows than the BRIGGS bodies due to the different companies that designed them. In 31 Ford standardized the design so they are the same on the sland windows (the black one). That is all. They don't hurt anything.

Re: 4dr 1/4 window size
Thanks guys! The difference between Murry and Briggs I guess is it. I had thought I saw pictures of ‘30 Murry’s with the bigger windows (had cureved tips to the side windows) but I guess they would have been ‘31’s. Were all ‘31’s slant windows or did some still have visors?
I really do like the color scheme as well Burner. I would have never thought I’d be drawn to something with Drab colors, but it’s really what sealed the deal for me on this car (that and the cheap price I got it for LOL). I really do think it’s pretty. |

Re: 4dr 1/4 window size
Early 31's were straight windows like yours. The slants came out half way through.

Well that roll down 1/4 is a neat little feature. Didn't even notice it in the picture I had...thanks for pointing it out!
