Default Picture of inside door, 1931 Tudor

Both of my doors had tack nails where I have marked with orange circles. Are these holes suppose to be there? If so what are they for? If not, does anyone have an idea as to why they are there? Before I removed the tacks, they were nailed about half way in and then bent.

Thanks!

Thank you for the response.

Since they are for an aftermarket item I will weld them up and fix the dents!
