Starter motor thrust
Is there a spec for movement in the shaft of the starter motor? any good links to rebuilding?

Re: Starter motor thrust
If you are talking about end float or movement back and forth of the armature shaft then it is not super critical but something like .015"would be good. However shaft sideways movement should be next to zero and if there is much movement here the the bronze bushes are worn and need to be replaced. If you are not keen to repair a starter yourself then a good older auto electrical shop would be the go. Regards, Kevin.
