Repairing Paddle in Vaccum Wiper
Have a 30 Coupe that needs the wiper vacuum motor repaired. After researching this and other forums, the wiper I have is a Standards part # TR-1C, which evidently followed the original Trico RCX-1. The TR-1C has a 2-screw front cover (does not snap on), and some vendor's web sites say their paddle repair kits won't work on wipers with this front cover. The kit sold by Bratten's shows a picture with identical looking gaskets to what I have, but I can't tell from the picture if the paddle will fit into the vacuum chamber. I am going to call Bratten's to ask, but I was hoping you all could could offer some opinions. If I can't get a kit to fix the paddle, does anyone know where I can send my unit to have it repaired? Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Repairing Paddle in Vaccum Wiper
Ficken wiper service in NY is noted for working on Trico's and Clean Sweep in Oregon.. Also, the national A clubs have listings for service and vendor sources. I believe the 2 screw cover is original, the snap on is after market or replacement.

The paddle fits, and it is a tight fit. Grease the chamber and both sides of the paddle.

Re: Repairing Paddle in Vaccum Wiper
The paddle itself is the same size for all the Trico wipers. In the past, there have been rebuild kits with other internal parts for rebuilding the aftermarket (later production) Trico KCX motors. Those internal parts are different on the motors with the 2 screw caps. For the most part, those particular rebuild kits no longer exist but what is available is a hit to refurbish the paddle. It works no matter when your wiper motor was produced as long as it's a Trico motor.

Re: Repairing Paddle in Vaccum Wiper
I use vaseline on the paddle. One time I needed to lube the paddle on a long trip in the middle of nowhere. I didn’t have any Vaseline, but I had some Vicks VapoRub. It worked fine, though there was that fragrance... ;-)

X2 for Ficken. Those things are not easy to get right, and Ficken is worth the money.
