Remembrance of Sgt Donald Malarkey
Sgt Donald Malarkey of E Co, 101st Airborne Div, Band of Brothers, a unit that shared a Model A Ford while at Camp Toccoa, GA, passed away yesterday in Oregon.
I was pleased to see his Obit received a 1/4 page in Long Island's Newsday. Sgt Malarkey received the Bronze Star for Valor for his work on D Day, assisting in the destruction of the 105 MM howitzers blocking Utah Beach breakout on June 6, 1944. |

Re: Remembrance of Sgt Donald Malarkey
Thanks for sharing. So many of our great Generation heroes are passing. I hope the new generation studies history and understands the contribution these great heroes made. May we never forget them.

You got that right! I work with many people age 40 and under and most of them don't care about the greatest generation and don't even understand why they are called that.

Re: Remembrance of Sgt Donald Malarkey
The original group of Toccoa men in the mini series Band of Brothers are there any left still living? Just wondering. If you ever have the chance and time while traveling in the northeast part of Georgia, stop in at Toccoa, Ga and visit the Band of Brothers museum. Located in the old train depot. Well worth the visit.

Re: Remembrance of Sgt Donald Malarkey
If I remember correctly, I believe that Dick Winters died about a year ago. My timing may be wrong though.
