Default Diagnosis

there is a model a'er on here,"Brum1", who ask a question about an engine knock, this comes up quite often, so just for giggles lets all put our guesses on here and see what we think, then let him come back and tell us what it was, rod or main, my guess is mains, what do you think?

My guess is it's a normal 80 year old car sound and Brum1 won't find anything wrong. The modren car's we drive every day now have spoiled us all.... Just my guess.

Pull that pan... do the checks. I will guess, it's a couple rods and the mains are fine.

Less obvious causes.
1. distributor tight in the head.
2. Weak, or too short spring on cam gear plunger.
3. tight finger joints for distributor 2piece drive shaft.
4. float-a-motor mounts too tight.

Interesting. Could you (or anyone) please describe how float-a-motor mounts could be to tight? Are you referring that the rubber pads are to compressed (over tightened)? Thanks!!
