Default Helmet distributor bushing lubrication

Can any of the distributor experts confirm how the front and rear bushings for a 37-41 helmet distributor (with 68- advance unit) receive lubrication? I understand the rear bushing receives oil from the timing cover, there is a groove in the bushing seat that leads to two holes on the bottom of the distributor, but no hole in the bushing itself. I read somewhere that the bushing material is porous enough that oil goes through it, but that's a new concept for me. Similarly for the front bushing, there is no direct communication between the oil cup/feed tunnel and the inside of the bushing-is it the same idea?
Any good tips for removing the front bushing? The rear taps out easily.
Thanks,
Adam

Porous bronze bushings, invented by Walter P Chrysler, absorb and transmit lubrication.

Even mild heat causes the 'cast in' lubrication to flow from the bushing to the rotor
shaft.

to remove the front bushing tap it 1/2 NC ( I think)and thread in a long bolt or threaded rod, slip a plate with a hole in it over the body and the bolt and then pull the bush out easy.

AMEN CHARLIE !!!
Hardly EVER see a damaged bushing, have hundreds of cores on hand , they just seem to last forever. Every now and then you see a damaged front bushing but installing and fitting a new bushing is a real pain , in most cases i just use another core with a good busing .

The clearance for the advance unit journals at the front bushing mic's out at .0015 and at the rear bushing .0025 does that seem acceptable?
