Default Oil filter questions

Hey Fellas,

Can someone educate me regarding modern oil filters. I'm trying to hook up a remote oil filter on my pickup project with an 8BA. The engine work has been done and I have it configured for a full flow remote filter with the grub screw installed. I have a couple of questions:

1. I know what the filter bypass relief valve is for but I'm seeing filters that open at 8-11 psi and others as high as 22 psi. What psi am I looking for and why?

2. Does the mounting orientation of the filter affect the function in any way?

Thanks,
Heard

If the bypass valve opens at a pressure higher that the pressure the engine makes the oil flow will stop when the filter is dirty
