If they get $25,000 for that 1/2 and 1/2 I’ll be very surprised. A waste of effort and money!

You may be surprised. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but someone with the cash make love it. They would get the look but not have a 90 year old car to try and keep up.

The owner has hung a bunch of fire fighting junk on the car to try and increase its value. If someone gave it to me, the first thing I would do is remove all the junk.

Looks to have 4 lug wheels and 4-cylinder engine, ya I would say it's a Shay.

I agree - looks like a Shay. But I am curious as to how they decided it is a 1923. Over the years I have run into a number of people that seem to believe that "If it is a Ford with a 4 cylinder engine then it's a Model T" OR "Any Ford before WWII is a Model T"

I worked for a classic car dealer when I was first married and owner loved those shay's. They would sell for good money but I hated them the workmanship was horrible and we used to say the miles on the odometer were dog miles. The pinto engine was underpowered and I felt unsafe driving them. Yuck

I messaged the seller.
told him it was not a Model T, 1923 or a truck.
he replied he was listing for a friend, knew nothing about it and thanked me.
said he would research and update the posting....

To many people these days, any "old" car is a Model T. I get that all the time.

Honestly, just like the Stooges are thinking in the photo ... who cares? Shay and the like are a sad time in the world of true Model A Ford fans.

Yeah, it's a Shay, the "lollipop" cowl lights are a dead giveaway. Lots of Shay hate on here because it's not a "real" Model A. Course it never was intended to be, says "reproduction" right on the grill badge. Like it or don't for what it is, not for what it's not. I agree the fire stuff doesn't add anything, but check the price guides. For those who accept Shays for what they are, the ask may be a bit optimistic, but not unrealistic.
