37 Replacement seats
Hello. New to this board and my 37 ford four door sedan. It is in remarkably good shape with the exceptions of the seats. I am not planning on taking this to shows only driving it on weekends and just for pure enjoyment. Is there an exact bolt in bench seat replacement from a later model ford? I have seen comments about Bronco's or Vans but would like to know the exact model and years if possible. Thanks for any help.

Re: 37 Replacement seats
Welcome aboard. I don't know of a bolt in seat but why not just take the originals to a upholstery shop and get them done?

Re: 37 Replacement seats
The factory seats can be rebuilt using modern foam and materials as long as the seat frame is not in too bad of shape. It is pretty amazing how comfortable and supportive they can be with the modern high density foam.
I redid the bench in my f100 myself with a Cartouche seat cover and it turned out great. It didn't cost me too much. Just cover, materials, snap ring pliers, and a weekend of work. |

Re: 37 Replacement seats
I guess I will go that route. I have received 2 quotes, almost identical, $750 for each seat. Too much for me. The one shop admitted it was almost twice the normal rate due to Covid. He said he is working 7 days a week and doesn't look like it will change. By the way the frame and springs are in great shape. I just haven't done this before. I am pretty handy so I just may watch a few YouTube videos and take a shot at it. Thanks everyone.

Re: 37 Replacement seats
Need a little help. I removed and stripped both seats. Unfortunately I did not take pictures before I did this. Does the front seat cover attach directly to the wooden frame? Does anything else hold the box springs to the wooden frame? Thanks.

Re: 37 Replacement seats
38 seats are similar.
Look around for prices to recover them. A semi-retired upholsterer would be ideal. Check the EFV8 roster for club members in your area. Good luck. Chris.NZ. New Zealand. |

Re: 37 Replacement seats
I'd rather have some lumpy correct seats then a couple 80s aerovan seats.
Post some pictures of what you are asking if you can. |

Re: 37 Replacement seats
Anyone suggesting foam to replace the original springs hasn't the good fortune to have experienced the comfort of these seats on cross country trips.

Maybe if you included at least your general area someone might have a suggestion for another shop that is more in your price range. When I had the stock seat upholstered in my '39 p/u using flat vinyl with no spring or frame repair it was $300.00. Had the exact same price quote from another shop. Both known for quality work. More recently upgraded to a Glide Engineering frame. Cost to completely cover it with a sculptured vinyl was $500.00 including all the required foam, etc.
