Old Driver
This is my second question in a couple of years. Hope I'm doing it right. Here's my question:
I want to drive my "A" with a radio receiver"companion", especially on long rides. I miss the music and News and Talk. So far I have unreasonable ignition noise. I put a radio in my first car, way back in High School. It had a filter. Attempts to purchase one at the popular Auto Aftermarket Stores has, so far, yielded a blank stare. Any suggestions ? Source and Install ideas. Thank you all. (I have learned so much!) |

Re: Old Driver
Radio Shack has pretty much turned into a toy and telephone store, but they might still have one.
You may have to change to carbon coil and plug wires |

Old Driver, As far as posting it right, I would suggest you put the topic of your question in the title of your post, not your name. You'll get better responses and it will be more helpful later on when someone does a search for your topic.

Re: Old Driver
You are not going to have much success with AM radio. There are many ways to suppress ignition noise but in a model A it is going to be a real battle.
FM reception will work quite well though. Nothing to do but install the radio. Any broadcast radio will work better if the antenna is mounted on the rear of the car away from the engine. Ignition noise comes in through the antenna. |

Re: Old Driver
If you want the ultimate in reception, buy a sirius/XM radio. Drive clear across the country without changing stations. As far as a noise filter to get rid of noise coming in through the DC power use this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/INLINE-12-VO...item5d3ca933c8
However to save yourself some headaches use this to convert the pos ground 6 volt to neg ground 12 volt: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-6-8-12-V...937f76&vxp=mtr You'll have some money in it but thats life! To be clearer, run the power converter first, then the noise filter on the output of the converter to clean up the power. |

Re: Old Driver
I hardly ever use it, but I figure if you're gonna have a radio in a Model A, it oughta look like it belongs...
