Default 33-34 Speedo interchangeability

Will a 34 DeLuxe Waltham speedo fit in a 33 Standard car that has a Delco speedo? Can the odometer be spun forward from 92,000 to read 57,000 again?

Thanks!

Tim
The speedometer's are the same physical size SO yes, they can be exchanged. NOW, keep in mind that your 33 "Standard" (by standard I take that to mean your car is a standard and not a deluxe, which your avatar doesn't support) only had a 3 digit tripometer and the "Deluxe" will have a 4 digit one....From an originality stand point that would be a points deduction at a V8 Club judged event if you were having your car judged. ALSO the finish on the face of the speedometer "may" not match your other gauges exactly.

Not sure about OR how to turn the readings back or forward to match what you have???

Hook the speedo cable up to a drill motor. Caution do not spin it too fast. Variable speed drill is best. I'm not sure about the law on messing with a speedo.

If you could speed it up to 100 miles an hour it would only take 650 hours. I would recommend sending it out to a speedometer repair shop.

yes it would be best to have a speedometer repair shop reset the reading and clean it at the same time. papanick

Tim,

Respectfully, the word you are looking for is "realistic."

Tim, With little argument, Dave is one of, if not the sharpest guy you will have the pleasure of learning from if you would be open to such.

I'm with dean333, no need for negativity. Google speedo repair using drill motor. Been done & if you know what you are doing no problems. Ask an old car lot mechanic. Just be sure to disclose it when you sell it.
Dean333;To answer your question, yes the speedo can be spun forward. It will interchange.

Perfect (accurate) choice of words Ken.

I also might add my quote seems to fit well within this situation as well.

and Dave

My gosh, I don't even own a '32 and sold my '34. I STILL read every post by David. Why? Because I continue to learn things.

I don’t think the “you get what you pay for” comment was appropriate. Previous owners had already installed DeLuxe equipment on the car, I felt the woodgraining went well with it. I did a lot of research with the 33-34 book and photos of original 33’s and feel the color is pretty close.
