Default 1939 ford tires

Doesn't anyone beside Coker make tires to fit a stock 1939 ford? Cokers seem very pricey. They can afford to be if they are the only game in town. Jon Laing

Are you looking for bias-ply or radials? Several companies offer both (I think) in 6.00x16. I think that Coker is the only supplier that offers a radial that somewhat resembles the original bias-ply profile. I have a set of the Coker Classics 6.00x16 radials on our '39 CS and I've been very happy with them... after I removed the tubes.

I'm running Coker radials - 6:00s on front, 6:50s on rear on my '39 Deluxe coupe. Expensive, yes, but excellent handling. Had a lot of problems with first set of tubes - several punctures - but Coker came through and provided replacements, no charge. Since then no problems. Several friend bought Diamond Backs, they seem to be satisfied with them. Tires, brakes, steering - don't go cheap. Your life and your investment are too important.

Goodyear still manufactures the original whitewall available in 1939. But Coker does not sell Goodyear. I purchased mine from a large dealer at the Carlisle PA car show. I cannot remember the dealers name, but it is not coker. If you go to the show, no shipping.

Universal also sells them, including with the original Ford script on the sidewalls.

As I understand it, however, both Lucas and Universal were acquired by Coker a couple of years ago. They still operate as separate businesses, but the owner has a virtual monopoly in most sizes of collector car tires.
