32 cabriolet trunk catch
We don’t have a catch ,for want of a better word. The bit the latch hooks under The 5W style i don’t think will work as the rear panel is shorter on a cab and the horizontal support panel is much close to the deck lid than on a 5W . A picture would be worth a 1000 words.
Had a look at a buddies 32 cab project yesterday and he has no catch either. |

Re: 32 cabriolet trunk catch
Rumble lid latch catch is the same on '32 cabriolets, standard coupes, sport coupes, and roadsters.

Re: 32 cabriolet trunk catch
I thought that I'd heard that 32 Cabriolets all came with rumble seats? Mine does, but that is just one example.

The height of the rear panel is immaterial, its the relationship of the drip channel and striker to the opening that matters. |

Re: 32 cabriolet trunk catch
A rumble seat came with all '32 cabriolets. Obviously the subject version has been converted to a trunk post production.

Re: 32 cabriolet trunk catch
Given what David said (thanks for confirming what I thought I knew! LOL), it probably does not have the corresponding latch catch at the bottom, you'll probably need to look at another car and fabricate one. It should not be too difficult.

Re: 32 cabriolet trunk catch
Thanks ,learning all the time. A PO fitted a hideous fibreglass trunk lid which has gone in file 13. We have a brookville lid now. I prefer a regular trunk lid for practical reasons. Will have to conjure up my own catch it seems.

Re: 32 cabriolet trunk catch
The lower back panel on a '32 cabriolet is 7 3/4" in height and that of '32 roadster is 9 1/2" in height. I do not have a standard coupe any longer so I can't measure its lower back panel, but you indicate that you already know that it is taller than a cabriolet. Since both inner panels for use with a trunk lid where the latch catch is installed are being reproduced for those two body types, perhaps the one closest to the height of a cabriolet lower back panel could be modified to fit your purposes.
