Default Need 3 Speed Gear Shift Rebuilt....

I have a spare 3 speed transmission for my 46 Ford PU. The tranny was rebuilt, however, the top loader gear shift needs rebuilding. When shifting to 2nd gear the handle has 2-3 inches of sloppy play to the left.

I'm in New Jersey. Can someone recommend a reputable rebuilder to me?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Try Charlie Schwendler in Orchard Park NY. His phone is 716/662-9159. He is an old hand at transmissions.

He did the tranny and rear in our car and my Dad thought the world of him. Treated us VERY fairly.

Thank you for the referral supereal & VeryTangled! A friend & I took the tower apart and found the gear shift lever to be the problem......badly worn. Now, I need to find a Gear Shift Lever for the tranny, or have a machinist do some magic.

Would appreciate any sources to obtain a lever for a 1942-1947 Pick Up. Thanks!

any "new" one you buy will have some wear, have a machinest weld the side of the worn linkage and then grind down, I have done a few myself, tried brazing one up and it only lasted about 4 years, the rest I have mig welded and ground down, all of them worked really good
