When I removed the wobbling crank pulley on my Oct-1928 engine (in my custom frame) today I discovered it was a two-piece pulley. I want to install a one-piece pulley, which is possible in this frame without disassembly, however I do not know how to remove the inner sleeve of the two-piece pulley without some engine disassembly. Do any of you have a technique I can use?

You might want to do a search as this was talked about a few months ago. If I remember the technique was to weld a collar onto the inner sleeve and then use a puller to pull it off.

Harmonic imbalance causes the failure of the front crank pulley, the two piece ones made them easier to change but doesn't address the root cause, neither does a one piece pulley. Murray Horn makes a nice harmonic balancer for the model A.it does two things, eliminates pulley failure and helps dampen the torsional vibration that causes center main bearing failure.

Googled "Murray Horn" and got no where. Could you be more specific? Also, is this balancer undersized?

The purpose of the dynamic dampener is to dampen the torsional vibrations in the crankshaft. The stress can be many times what is going out to drive the car forward.
